You own zero percent of your social media followers
We covered this earlier in the month, your Instagram audience isn’t yours. Your email list is. And yet most small service businesses don’t have one at all, or have one they haven’t sent to in a year.
Here’s the thing
An email list doesn’t need to be fancy. A simple opt-in (“Get our seasonal maintenance checklist” or “monthly tips for homeowners”) that captures a name and email is enough to start. You’re not trying to build a media empire, you’re trying to stay in front of past and potential customers so you’re the one they think of when they need you.
What to actually send
One email a month is plenty. A quick tip, a seasonal reminder, a finished project showcase, a limited-time offer. Keep it short, keep it useful, and keep it sounding like a person wrote it. Nobody opens a newsletter that reads like a press release.
Start collecting before you need it
The worst time to start building an email list is when you desperately need customers. The best time is right now, while business is steady and every new subscriber is a future touchpoint you’ll be glad you have.
Want an email system set up and actually running? That’s part of our business automation service.
