Sending ads to your homepage is setting money on fire

Let me pop the hood on the most common waste in paid advertising. You build a Google Ads campaign, pick your keywords, write your ad copy, set a budget, and then send all that paid traffic to your homepage. Your homepage, which also serves people who searched your business name, people who came from a referral, people browsing your blog, and people who are just poking around. None of those visitors need the same thing as someone who clicked a paid ad for “emergency AC repair.”

What a landing page actually is

A page built for exactly one audience with exactly one next step. Someone searched “emergency AC repair in Pembroke Pines,” clicked your ad, and landed on a page that says emergency AC repair in Pembroke Pines, shows your response time, lists your credentials, and has one button that says “call now.” No menu, no blog links, no distractions.

Why your homepage can’t do this job

Your homepage has to serve everyone. A landing page only has to serve the person who clicked that ad. That focus is what converts, and diluting it is what wastes your budget.

The move:

For every ad campaign you’re running, check where the click goes. If it’s your homepage, build a dedicated page that matches the ad’s promise. That’s money doing push-ups, the productive kind.
