Referrals happen by accident most of the time

Most businesses get referrals occasionally, when a happy customer just happens to mention them. That’s leaving something valuable to chance instead of building it into how you operate.

Make asking part of the process

At the moment a job wraps up, when the customer’s happiest, ask directly if they know anyone else who could use your service. Most owners never actually ask, they just hope it happens.

Make it easy to follow through

A simple way to pass along your info, a card, a quick text they can forward, removes the friction between someone meaning to refer you and actually doing it.

Say thank you when it happens

A genuine thank you, or a small gesture, when someone does refer you encourages them to do it again. It doesn’t need to be a formal program, just consistent appreciation.
